How do you turn off the Design Tool in a Word template?

I designed a template in Word and used the Design Tool within the Control Box
toolbar. Each time I open up the template the Design Tool is on and I have
to turn it off before I can fill in the template. This is going to be used
by other people who may not realize that the Design Tool must be turned off
before filling in the template.

You'll have to delete the text boxes and etcetera that were placed with the
"Control Box", these have a different use

Use the "Forms" toolbar [view] [toolbars] [forms] use these tools, once you
protect your document, the user will only be able to fill in the form slots.

Hope that helps

I have run into the same problem, only mine is a little tougher. The people
filling in my form need to be able to run a spell check and alter the
appearance of text, ie, make some bold and italic. When you lock a form the
people filling it out are not able to alter text or spell check. So, I
designed a form using the Design Mode, but after saving as a template, when
others open it as a new doc the design mode is turned on, and it needs to be
off to complete the form (at least to fill in Check box fields...my form has
text and check box fields). Any ideas what I can do?
