How do you unlock files?

I had a customer who was using Visio 2003 when the power went off and the
computer turned off. The computer came back up and when she went to open the
document she was working on during the outage it would not open. The Visio
document seemed locked. How do you remove that lock?

you have a high probability that it was corrupted. Did she have autosave
configured? Is there a backup?

I am not sure if she had auto save set, I assume it was. When the file
finally did pop open it was not corrupted. I think it may just reset itself
after a period of time but as you know in a fast moving office you want to
bypass that time delay and reset the document yourself. Do you have any idea
how to unlock locked documents?

I'm not sure what 'locked' means. Was the file on a server or was it local?

Sounds more like Visio was trying to recover rather than the file was
locked.

That's also what I suspect, I was just wondering if it was being exacerbated
by being on a network drive. In either case if it is in recovery you
probably don't want to fool with it until it is done.
