How do you write nuclides in word?

How do you write the symbol for carbon-12 including the A, Z and N numbers?
A and Z are a subscript and superscript respectively to the left of C and N
would be a subscript to the right of C. I can't figure out how to do both
the superscript and subscript to the left. Is there an overlay or double
strike function?

Hi fuzzy,

The overstrike function is part of the Eq field, using the \o switch. Look
in the Help for the topic "Field codes: Eq (Equation) field" for a full
description.

In this case, the field code should look like {Eq \o(6,12)}. To make this,
press Ctrl+F9 and type the code between the field braces. Then select the 6
and format it as a subscript, and select the 12 and format it as a
superscript. You probably should also format the subscript as lowered by 2
pt (do this on the second tab of the Format > Font dialog), and make the
superscript raised by 2 pt.

Once you've formatted the contents of the field code, press F9 to update the
field. Add the C and the subscript to the right. Select the whole symbol and
make an AutoText entry from it, so you don't have to go through all the
rigamarole each time.
