No matter what I try I can not get Entourage to connect to my POP mailbox
when I use the modem and dial into my ISP. If I use wireless or the wired
Ethernet it works fine. I know the connection is good because all other apps
can connect when I am dialed-in (Safari, IE, etc.). Its just Entourage that
reports:
Internet Connect
The selected communication device does not exist.
Please verify your settings and try again
As recommended here, I moved modem to the top of the list (then to the
bottom), I removed all other connections other than the modem. Nothing works
for entourage. Its not gotten even worse. At one point I used to be able to
get Entourage to work if I restarted, dialed-in and started up entourage,
but even that does not work now.
I think there must be a setting in Entourage config file that tells it what
network adapter to use, and that file must be corrupt, locked, or something.
Its the only explanation for why all other programs work but not Entourage.
Clearly the TCP/IP network connection stack is working fine with dial-up if
all the other programs work. It seems to me that Entourage is just looking
for a specific adapter.
So does anyone have any idea where I could find that setting/file?
