John McGhie [MVP - Word]

Hi Philip:

It's simple in Word too. Spend some time in the Help file and come back to
us with specific questions if there is anything there you do not understand.

Start with the Help topic "Create a Form".

Just a word to the wise: the whole process can become massively complex if
you start adding intelligence to the forms. You can have Word validate the
user's input in the various fields and take specified actions depending on
what it finds. You can also pre-fill certain fields, then have them
dynamically change as the user works. And you can have fields that include
lists of standard selections the user can choose.

Forms are a lot more flexible and powerful in Word than they are in Acrobat,
but they can also grow into a large development project because of this.
Take care that you actually build a "mouse", not an "elephant" (i.e. a mouse
built to government specifications...)

We have a whole newsgroup on this server dedicated to Forms. It's

If you are thinking of creating anything really complex, hop over there and
give them a shout. Don't forget to tell them you are on a Mac.

Cheers

Hi Phillip:

Remove the server name and try again. I shouldn't have tried a "URL,
it's really only supported by IE and there's no standard for it.

I think its your formatting of the url. It should be.

news://msnews.microsoft.com/microsoft.public.word.vba.userforms

I've used the above method and went right to the group.

Thanks

Internet Explorer 5.2.3, on a 733-mhz G4 with OS 10.2.6 fails to access the
url in either Phillip's or John's formatting. However, Netscape 7.1
(another free browser) goes right to the address as formatted by Phillip and
if you click subscribe, it downloads some 3000+ items and subscribes to
future ones.
