How does one turn off organization chart behavior in Visio?

I have drawings that started as org charts. That is, they were based on that
template, even though not meant to be org charts. I would like to use them
as plain drawings. When I try to copy and paste them into a new file or onto
a new page, the shapes revert to their original org chart sizes. The sizes,
positions and connecting lines are useless to me. Can I turn off the org
chart behavior I assume is causing this? Or is there another approach?

If you download the Visio 2003 SDK and install, then you will get a
PersistentEvents tool
This will enable you to delete the event in the document that starts the Org
Chart add-on.
