How does Project Server synchronization effect Active Directory?

I am going to be implementing the EPM solution within the next week, but I
will not be doing it directly, I will be instructing somebody on how to do
it. Now, the administrator has a concern about synchronizing Active
Directory with Project Server. He is afraid that it could mess things up.
How does the synchronization process effect the Active Directory? My
administrator would like to know the details of the synchronization process
and if it changes anything.
