How does someone display several different PWA2003 views in one pl

I'm trying to find a way display a mix of views (ie., Project Center, Project
Detail, and Portfolio Analyzer views) from MS Server 2003 on to a single
location/ page

I tried creating a "Web Part Page" (found under the Create button within
Project Workspaces) but it seems that the set of 7 or so views/ web parts
that I am trying to pull in to it is too much for the web browser to
handle--Internet Explorer (ver.7) most of the time does not display correct
and seems to time out. In troubleshooting this issue we found that we were
getting message from network log is “TCP buffer fullâ€. Microsoft suggested I
cut it down to 3 max. This no good, because it would mean that I would have
to go to 2-3 place to get all my data for each of my projects.

I thought of using Excel to connect to the OLAP cube so that I can retrieve
the data from there but then I do not have access to certain Project Center
view details (e.g., % complete, baselines start, etc.). Should I consider
extending the OLAP cube to pull in the data I need for the Project Center and
Detail Project views, OR is there a simpler way.

Note, I tried creating an HTML page with some very very simple HTML commands
to pull together the required views using Notepad to bypass calling the Web
Part Page, but I encounter the same problem.

Any suggestions on how I should proceed. Is there a 3rd party product that
I need to get our views on a single page/ report?

I would loose the gantt/ timescale information usually displayed in the
project center and detail project views.

There are ways to do this but it usually requires a good report developer.

You might post this on the Developer Group.

I'm surprised that this is the path I need to go down to address what most
PMOs would want from their project management tool! Ouch!

I have my views, why can't I just pull them in together?!! :( ....

It would probably be easier if I hired someone like a Perl Script developer.

Thanks Sean... excuse my frustration and ranting.

Hi Gary!

How so? Are you suggesting that the method I am currently using (Web Part
Pages) is improved in 2007? Perfomance wise I could say it seems to be
better, but I can tell for sure because I can not seem to accomplish what I
need. I can not find the Source Editor button under the "Modify Shared Web
Part" that enables someone using MSPv2003 to specify the exact View to
display by suppling its ViewId. Has the method on how to specify the desired
view changed in 2007, or is this no longer possible to do so within Web Part
Pages (to specify which view to default to)? Or, is there some other way
that I am not familiar with in these project workspaces/ Web Part Pages to
accomplish this?

Also, if there is another way besides project workspaces/ web part pages,
please do tell so that I can check it out.

/Thanks,
/Spiro Theopoulos.

How so? Let's see:

1) The web parts are better, easier to manipulate and you can do most of
this without editing any code
2) The pages are all in WSS 3.0 so you have all the added flexibility that
comes with the newer version plus the ease of modifying SharePoint pages
with all of their inherit controls
3) Performance is way, way better

Have a look at our Project Server Help Blog (link below) and peruse Tony
Zink's Hacking with Web Parts series to get a taste of what is possible.

Unfortunately, I did not find what I was looking for. This is the document
I found: http://www.pptspaces.com/msprojectreporterblog/default.aspx
Was this the one you where refering too?

If so...Although the Source Editor button is still part of a Content Editor
Web Part, I'm still inclined to think that the Source Editor button is NO
longer a feature that I can use on a e.g., Project Center Web Part to
specificy the ViewID. So, I do not see how this is even possible in 2007
without more work than in 2003.

Am I missing something?

There are more in the series, so browse through the posts. These do not
address your issues directly, but it will give you some insight into the
flexibility of Project Web Access 2007 now that it is built fully within the
SharePoint envelope.

Maybe you have a series of VIEWs customized for the boss
just the way he likes them, proper sorts groups etc.
http://admin1s6/Projectserver/Views/PortfolioView.asp?_viewID=5
http://admin1s6/Projectserver/Views/PortfolioView.asp?_viewID=12
http://admin1s6/Projectserver/Views/PortfolioView.asp?_viewID=72

put each of these links in a separate favorites folder in IE 7 and open the TAB GROUP,
each page will appear on a tab, unfortunately the tab title or tab browsing do not
uniquely identify which are which view is which very well even when viewed as panes.
But it is a one click solution and is the native behaviour of IE7.
