How dumb is the drop down list in Forms!

I tried to create a Date of Birth Drop down list but after entering 25 days
of the month Word produced an error message saying you cannot have more than
25 items in a drop down list! How daft is that???? Any workarounds not
involving typing into fields?

Hi Mark:

It's a PITA, isn't it?

Here's one way: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/198561/

This is the same thing in Word 98:
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/194027/EN-US/

I suspect I would give up and let them type it -- most people can type their
birthday correctly :)

Cheers

Indeed....this one has been driving me crazy for a while. Far easier for
me to type 30 than to use the mouse and scroll down to 30--and while I
know I can use the keyboard to navigate such forms, my reflex tends to
be to grab a mouse when I see a menu. Let's not even talk about
scrolling down to my birth year now that people from 13 to 93 may well
be surfing the web, and the form has all 80 years listed.

Betcha money the 25-item limit was applied well before industrialized
societies got to the point of having a form field for every little silly
thing.
