How e mail link?

When I enter a url, I get a link web link.

But when I enter a e mail address I am not getting a live e mail link. Why
not?

I remember in the past getting the e mail link.

You're a happy man. There's many asking for this not to happen and can't
find out how :)

In fact it's odd. Every time I type "(e-mail address removed)" I get a link.
BUT, not if I *paste* it in the cell... It's exactly the same with an URL.
Can you describe it step by step?

Yes Bernard:
For this particular project, all e mail address were pasted in! I did not
know it mattered. And I want these to link!

But yes, other times I don't want them to link.

What the problem with Excel? There is no preference or method to
link/unlink after the fact??

No, unfortunately, there's no preferences setting for that (though there is
one now in the Windows version). You can let Microsoft know you'd like to
have that feature using the "Help" > "Send Feedback" item.

There is a method, as you can click on the undo button when the link has
been created. But that's not very comfortable to do. There's also a macro
possibility to get rid of all the links in a sheet, provided by JEMcGimpsey:

Hello all-

There are a few workaround for this problem, while they might not be
the best option, it will at least help you get where you need to be.

If you have an e-mail address that you have pasted and want to have it
become a hyperlink, you can click in the cell and hit enter. This
will allow Excel to recognize that the current text is actually an
e-mail address.

If you have an e-mail address that you do NOT want to have as a
hyperlink, you can select the cell, go to the Insert Menu, select
Hyperlink, and then click the "Remove Link" button at the bottom of
the dialog box.

As far as a suggestion for an option in the preferences, I think
that's a great idea.
