How far will access go ?

Nate-O

I have two questions.

First i would like to know it is possable to have access
write some sort of log of how much load its under...
example. how many sql hits / min. how many updates. how
many people are using the db etc..

The reason why i want the log is because I need to find
out if access has reached its limit. we have about 30
people hitting the database non stop all day long.. im
talking every secound there are some sort of sql statement
being executed. So how far can Access go before its time
to migrate to a bigger/stronger database program ?

The problem is that the log will add to the load on the database, so that
you'll run out of steam sooner. It is probably just as well to monitor the
performance... when the users begin to complain about slow performance, then
you can address the issue.

There are a lot of things that can be done to improve performance in a
multiuser environment. Take a look at the information and links on MVP Tony
Toews' site, http://www.granite.ab.ca/accsmstr.htm. It's the best collection
I know about on this subject.

By the way, there's a newsgroup specifically about Access multiuser:
microsoft.public.access.multiuser.
