How I can attach filenames to my pictures when printing?

Q

Quco

I have a number of pictures I need to print with the filename attached as
part of a report for a group of civil engineers. In our hard-copy submittal,
I am looking for an automated process to do the following. I am currently
using Office 2007.

1. Open a new Word Document
2. Select Narrow Margins
3. Orientation = Landscape
4. Copy and Paste the filename of picture #1
5. Insert Picture
6. Next Page
7. Repeat steps 4 through 7 above

It is very time consuming, specially if I try to fit two vertical pictures
resized 6.5" x 4.88" in the same page.

If I use Windows Explorer to open the folder with all pictures, select them
all and click on the Print icon to open the Microsoft's Photo Printing
Wizard, the program leaves me with the option of hand writing the filename
for each picture and that look unprofessional to me.

Any suggestions?

After you get the output fom the photo printing wizard, run the page
thru the printer again to print the lable using Word, Wordpad or Notepad.

Thank you Bob,

The only downside to that method is that the operator can make mistakes very
easily when feeding the printer or when sometimes the printer pulls two pages
instead one at a time. We would need to check each picture on the screen and
compare it to the hard copy picture & label to make sure we got it right. Our
projects contain hundreds of pictures.

Office and Windows are so advance right now on their developments, that it
makes me wonder how come they didn't think about this simple tasks of
managing pictures.

If you're using Office 2007 then PowerPoint might do what you want using the
new Photo Album feature. Try the following:

- Create a new presentation
- On the Insert tab, click Photo Album, then New Photo Album
- Import your photos
- In the Picture Layout list select "2 Pictures"
- Under Pictures Options, select Captions below ALL pictures (this will give
you the file names)
- Click Create

Then just delete what you don't want, such as the first slide and print the
rest.
