How I can write diamension in excell whit alt tab ?

when I am working in excell so I have to write some pipe diamensions as
everybody.But it is impossible to write with alt tab+0216 also other's.
I dont understand why? Because before I had written.Now I am using Lap-top
may be something it is wrong.
Could you help me for thoose subject please?

You have to turn on numlock, and then use the figres 0 - 9 on the numeric
keypad positions. You cannot use 1 - 0 on the top row of keys. Best
solution is to get a USB numeric keypad, I think
