How I FINALLY got Mixed-Mode Authentication to work in Project Server and Project Pro

Server Setup
1. Server
a. Windows 2003 E
b. Web Serve
c. PS Front-End, DSO, Reporting Services, WS
d. Member Server in mydomai
2. Server
a. Windows 2003 E
b. SQL 2000 E
c. SQL 2000 A
d. Member Server in mydomai

ProjectServerPilot web server has the following set
1. Anonymou
2. IWA (for Sharepoint
ProjectServerPilot Virtual Directory has the following set
1. IW
2. Diges
3. Basi
ProjectServerPilot/ISAPI/PJDBCOMM.DLL has the following set
1. Anonymou
2. IW
3. Diges
4. Basi
MSADC Virtual Directory has no permissions set
MSADC/msadcs.dll has the following set
1. IW
2. Basi

I now get prompted when I connect to PWA. If I enter credentials that don’t match a Windows Authentication user, I can login as a PS user. If I log off while logged in as a user, I can login as a PS user

Using Project Pro, I get prompted to authenticate to the domain when I connect to the server. If I am connecting with a valid WA user, I can connect. If I am connecting with a valid PS user, I can connect. If not, the expected behavior occurs

BTW, as a side note, I had a previous post about not being able to connect WSS to PS. After many hours with a Project Server Product Specialist, I finally got it to work. The conclusion? The Default Web Site is broken. Not sure what caused/causes it, but we had to make a new site with EditSite

Hope this helps everyone out - many hours of banging my head against a desk to figure this one out. If you try it, please let me know if it works, but please don't hold me responsible if you break your project server - this is not guaranteed to work and you should have more than a passing knowledge of IIS, Windows, and PS before you fiddle with this stuff. No guarantee is implied or offered :) However, if you do try and it doesn't work, it's not too hard to undo the changes :

Hope I helped some people
Steve
