how is a project saved as an enterprise project.

When saving a project to project server, what determines whether or not it is
saved as an enterprise project vs a non enterprise project. Only one of the
projects saved to the PS so far is appearing under admin as a published
project.

By definition, an enterprise project is any project saved in the Project
Server database. When you save a project in the Project Server database,
Project Server appends the file extension ".published" to the file name.
Any project not saved in the Project Server database, such as an .mpp file,
is a non-enterprise project. Hope this helps.

Then the question is how do you save a project in the project database?
Obviously by just selecting publish > all or project plan seems to save the
project as an mpp.

Here's how to save a project in the Project Server database:

1. Launch Microsoft Project and then log into Project Server
2. Create a project
3. Click File - Save
4. Name the project and then click the Save button

The process is automatic, UNLESS you are not doing step #1. Have you
actually created a login account in Microsoft Project log into Project
Server using Tools - Enterprise Options - Microsoft Office Project Server
Accounts? If not, you are not logging into Project Server.

How about with a local project that already exists that you want to publish
to Project Server as an enterprise project?

If you have projects that got saved as .mpp files because you were not
logging into Project Server through Microsoft Project, you can do the
following:

1. Launch Microsoft Project and log into Project Server
2. Click Tools - Enterprise Options - Import Projects to Project Server
3. Work through each page of the wizard, paying special attention to the
resources page (match local resources with enterprise resources)

Hope this helps.
