How is GoDaddy as a host?

W

Will

We are considering moving our web site to GoDaddy for hosting.

I was hoping to get some feedback from others who have used their hosting
service.

Thanks for any help.

There have been numerous reports in this newsgroup over the past couple of
years that GoDaddy is nothing but problems.

But people only ever report problems.

For a change here is a good report.

I've used GoDaddy to host two web sites for years. Five years ago
they had occasional problems. Since then they have been problem free.

What FP features that require the FP extensions are you using?

Steve,

Thanks for the report. How much traffic do your sites receive? I want to
make sure they don't oversell the bandwidth to the point that things run
slow.

Thomas,

We use FrontPage for our half dozen sites. I would be hard pressed to tell
you the FP Extensions we use as the sites were built some time ago.

Are there certain FP extensions that don't do well on GoDaddy?

Thanks for all the comments folks.

GoDaddy has issues not only with proper functioning of the extensions, but
provides very little support when it comes to problems, and always places
the blame elsewhere. This, according to reports we've had in this
newsgroup.

For the most part, many people finally end up changing to a host that can
properly administer and support the extensions.

There are certain function, such as processing forms via the FP Form Handler that are not supported
or support completely, etc.

Steve,

Thanks for the report. How much traffic do your sites receive? I want to
make sure they don't oversell the bandwidth to the point that things run
slow.

The www.easynn.com and www.swingnn.com sites normally get a few
hundred visits a day but I have had thousands when advertising. I use
the mid-price plan. No bandwidth or speed problems. My other GoDaddy
hosted site, www.npsl1.com site is forwarding only.

As others have pointed out GoDaddy aren't so hot with FP extensions
support.
