My favorite feature in all excel, is when you click bottom right of a cell and drag down to copy. But often Excel will copy 50 or 100 cells below quickly, and sometimes I like that, and most times I did not want that. What can I do/ thanks!

Scroll speed is, generally, proportional to the distance above or below
the borders of the active window. When dragging down, keep the cursor
near the upper edge of the window border for slower scrolling.

However, it's an inexact science.

The Fill Handle is a great convenience tool but anything you do with the
mouse that extends outside the viewing area can be a challenge.

You might try selecting the cells [click in the Name Box & type the range,
such as B10:B43] then use Edit> Fill> Down for more control. You can also
assign a keystroke to the command if you need to use it frequently.

Thanks guys, good tips, but may be missing what I'm trying to say.

What I'm saying is that the minute I click in the lower right corner of the cell, (to get the drag handle) the cells below fill up instantly.

What is this behavior? sometimes I love it, but most times I don't want that.
I would love to be able to toggle that on/off with a modifier key or something.

If you have a list & there is a column that hasn't been completed all the
way to the bottom (last) record that technique will fill the remainder of
the column - however, that takes a *double-click*, not just a single.

NO, Bob, it just shoots it all down with one click.
And often it doesn't work. It works usually when I don't want it to.
Have no idea how to control it. that's why I'm still posting here
