How long are news mssgs kept on the MS newsgroups

Hello:

I was searching for some info in an old newsgroup message from May and
realize the messages only show back to August? Am I'm not getting the
complete list of messages? Is there an archive?

I don't know what server you are looking at (the way Usenet newsgroups
work, there are "many" of them in the world ... thousands/millions?). I
just looked at Google's copy and it goes back to September 2001.

There area also other servers out there, but I use this one for "looking
back".

AFAIK the MS server holds posts for 90 days. Google and others retain their *copies* of those posts for much loner periods.
