How make Document Image Writer (DIW) an option in printer list?

DIW is available as a stand-alone app in my PC (Windows XP Home running
Office 2003), but has disappeared from Print dialog boxes as a printer
option. I've tried MS's instructions for installing DIW in Office 2003, but
it was already installed. Also tried manually installing it as a new printer
via Control Panel - Printers: Although Microsoft DIW is listed as an
available port (which I selected), the subsequent page asks for a driver for
a physical printer. So the net result is that, even if I choose DIW in the
resulting print dialog box, the document goes to my physical printer rather
than being opened in DIW. Any suggestions?
