This is an interesting point. What does the "stop processing more rules"
option do? I do have many rules in succession (running at the same time),
but they have no priority other than "run when the email is recieved".
Would
they conflict in any way?
There is a priority - Outlook runs rules in the order they're listed in the
Rules Wizard. Outlook also applies ALL rules to each message as it arrives.
Thus, if you have two rules, each of which having a condition that applies
to a particular message, both rules will run. As an example, suppose you
have one rule that looked for "either" in the subject and moved the message
to folder A, then another rule that looked for "or" on the subject and moved
the message to folder B. If you receive a message with "either or" in the
subject, unless you add the "stop processing more rules" action to the first
rule, both rules would apply and you're get a copy of the messqage in both
folder A and folder B. Moreover, if you had another rule following those
two, you may wind up with a third copy in Inbox because Outlook would have
kept the copy to allow those subsequent rules to run as well. If none do,
the message would remain in the Inbox, so you'd have three copies. If you
have a rule that performs an action and you don't want any other action
performed on the message, add the "stop processing" action to that rule so
no subsequent rules are allowed to run.
Also, I notice since I have set up all these "send to folder" rules, I am
getting a constant pop-up prompting for my Network Password. Is this
related?
I don't know.
