how many pages/characters can a word processing file be?

I have done a research work of approximately 1100 pages. Currently I have it
broken down into different folders. I would like to put it all on one file.
It is word processing only. Can I do that? or is it too much for one file?

Users have been known to create 10,000-page documents in Word. If it's text
only, that should not be a strain for Word provided you have a reasonably
adequate system (plenty of RAM and HD space).

Hi Robognic,

Word 2000 and later can handle 32Mb of characters in a single file - this is
somewhat less than the overall file size would be, since Word also keeps
metacode for formatting etc in each file.

Cheers
