How many projects can MS Project handle?

Hi there,
I understand that MS Project can be very effective in managing single
projects.

My question is we have about 100 projects that we are trying to manage and
report on. (We would be reporting on the status of between 30-50 at any one
time) Is MS Project going to be the best tool to use for this quantity of
projects?

Also is it possible to merge projects together into a "master template" for
reporting purposes?

Any advice, insights or futher reading would be greatly appreciated.

For this number of projects you are moving into the sweet spot for Project
Server which is designed for reporting and updating hundreds of projects.
Make sure you get a consultant experienced in Project Server implementations
to help get the system going.

Alternatively you can create project consolidations (but do NOT link the
files to the master as this will create corruptions sooner or later), but
they become pretty meaningless if you have over a few thousand tasks in
total.

You can use VBA macros to facilitate creating snapshot consolidations and
reports for same.

Thanks for your response Rod, I haven't heard of Project Server but I will
look into it. It sounds like it is the tool needed to harness this data

Kind regards, Emma
