How many records can Access 97 hold and still be stable?

There is not really a limit on records. to see specifics on the
limitations, go to HELP and type "specification".

As far as being stable, it all depends on what you are doing, how many
users, how your data is structured, if you are on a LAN environment, etc.
Too many variables to make any predictions for a particular application.

1GB of data max, stability is about the design and volume of users, 2GB for
every version after 97

MS Access 97:

Max mdb file size: 1GB
Max objects in database: 32768
Max modules in database: 1024
Max object name length: 64
Max password length: 14
Max user/group name length: 20
Max users connected to database: 255
Max record length (without Memos and BLOBs): 2048
Max fields in table: 255
Max nested transactions: 7

Hi 718,

Just general info on Access capacity.
No limit on number of records. The limit is the physical size of the Access
file. 1 GB for Access 97, and 2 GB for Access2000 and later.

From stability viewpoint, there are a few things that I would consider more
critical than the size of your database. For example,
- number of users
- the environment : quality of hardware, network cards, hubs/switches.
- the design of the application itself (i.e. split vs. unsplit design).
