How many records can Access accomodate before crashing

I am trying to obtain sales analysis from our IBM as400 systems and require
to import information. This may vary from a couple of 100 to millions of
records (about 10 fields). Is there a maximum amount of records Access can
accomodate? How long will this take if no one is accessing the systems in
that time period? Is Visual Basic a more effective system to adopt instead?

Access is Visual Basic. It has a different forms
engine, but the same language runtime and data
access components.

I have not idea how long it takes to export records
from an IBM as400 system.

Access can accommodate 2GB of data. It can take the
maximum amount of records you can fit into that.
How much space do the records take on the as400 system?

Another consideration is do you really need all the fields in a record and
all the records in the table. It would seem reasonable to filter out data
that has no value for the reporting you want to do.
