How many resources can I assign to one task in MSP 2003?

I have over 400 resources assigned to one task (a test plan to ensure they
know how to use MSP Web Access). When I try to accept updates, MS Project
client locks up. Is this because of so many resources assigned to one task?

I don't know that there is a limit, but obviously, Project Server
doesn't like it. Keep in mind that when you have 400 resources, you are
not only loading those 400 resources when you start that project, you
are also loading every other project any of those 400 resources is
assigned to.

I think a better way to load the test plan would be to create a plan
with a number of task to test that the resources can see the assignment
for team members, but also use the test plan to test security: team
members see their work, team leads see their work, plus the team
members (if you have an RBS and set up security that way) etc.

Just my opinion, but I don't think loading one task with 400 resources
will work.
