how put in a superscript number

I am writing a paper were I need to use a superscript number, how do I do so with the mac

If not, To answer the question, we need to know what type of CPU you have
(Intel or Power PC?), what version of OS you are using (three digits please:
e.g. OS 10.5.2) and which version of Word you are using (again, three digits
please)

Get the OS version from the Apple menu, and the Word version from the About
item on the Word menu.

Hello Kitty,

Select the character you want to superscript and choose Format menu => Font
=> Character spacing => Position.

Note: In Word 2008, which I don't use yet, this *may* be accessible through
a different interface.
