How to access Word file when message says unavailable?

I recently downloaded Service pack 2 and other upgrades to Microsoft Windows
XP and Microsoft Office XP Professional. When I start Word I receive message
that "Word cannot open this document template (C:\Program
Files\...\PDFWord.dot)" and the same message re: (C:\Program
Files\...\PalmApp.dot). I can create a document, save it in My Documents but
I cannot open it or any other files saved in My Documents. I receive the
followning Message (with yellow triange and !): "The file [filename] is not
available."

Disable the Office Plugin that comes with Symantec/Norton AntiVirus. See

the Norton AntiVirus Office plug-in" for more info.

Hi, Gary. If once upon a time long ago there was a version of Norton
Antivirus installed on the computer, then the Office Plugin from Norton
could still be registered in Windows even if Norton has been
uninstalled. Search for the OFFICEAV.DLL file on the hard drive
(include system and hidden files/folders). If you find it, note the
folder where it is located, and use the "regsvr32 /u" method described
in http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=329820 to unregister the DLL.
