How to activate Spelling & Grammar in Word 97"

I am running Word 97 at home on Windows XP. It works fine on the Owne
account. I setup a new login for my daughter this week and the spel
check does not work. In fact, the Spelling & Grammar tab under Option
is grayed. How do I turn it on
