How to add a "Skill Set" Column

How do I add a custom field (Skill Set) to my Enterprise Resource Pool? I'm
not sure if the now missing MS Administrator already created a field with
employees skill sets and it just needs to be added or this has to be created
from scratch.. Can someone please let me know how to add, edit or create
this field and also recommend a reference guide where these kinds of
questions can addressed.
I appreciate the help; I was thrown into this position.

Thanks

If the administrator has already defined this field and you have admin
rights to check out the enterprise resource pool you can go to
Tool>Enterprise Options>Check-Out Enterprise Resource Pool to open up the
enterprise resource pool. To view the new custom column, right click on a
column and select insert. You can now insert any resource field available
in the system including the custom skills field. It should start with the
work "Enterprise".

For the standard Project Server Admin Guide go to

Thanks Jonathan, I will take a look at this. I have another question if you
don't mind. Is there a way of tracking and reporting how many times a
resource (employee) was utilized for a specific task. For example, can I
search and report how may time (john Doe) was selected for the task (sweep
floors) in "all" the projects created by the PMP's. Please forgive me if
wording is not correct.

Thanks

It would help if you would tell us what version of Project Server you are
using. 2002, 2003, or 2007? The answer to your latest question depends on
the version. Let us know.

To answer your latest question, navigate to the Resource Center page and
then click the View Resource Assignments link in the sidepane on the left.
You can select the resources whose assignments you wish to see and then
click the Apply button. Click the Timesheet View link in the sidepane to
look at each resource's work hours across all projects in the system. You
can look at specific tasks by filtering by the name of the task. Hope this
helps.

Dale,

Does Project Server 2007 have the feature to add skill information while
creating resource pools (menu driven) unlike 2003 where this custom feature
needs to be created???

No, skill information is a custom custom field that your Project Server
administrator needs to create during the initial configuration of the
system. Hope this helps.

The system listed all the projects that the resource has worked on. The list
is very long after implemented the project server 2003 for three years. How
can we only show the active projects on this screen?

Thanks,
Cynthia

Click the Filter, Group, Search tab at the top of the page. Click the
Custom Filter button. Enter a custom filter such as:

Finish Is Greater Than 7/4/07 (or whatever date you want)

Hope this helps.
