How to add day to PWA 2016 date format?

For the life of me I can't find how to add the day to the date format. Right now it is mm/dd/yyyy but I want for it to be 'ddd mm/dd/yyyy' (e.g. Sun 01/21/2018). Setting it on the client side is easy, but looking to change it on the server 2016 side. Assistance is greatly appreciated!
