How to add Research Sites in Microsoft Research

M

Manu

Hello all,

I have MS-office 2003 on my machine. I frequently use 'Research' through
office applications (Word, Excel) and even IE.
Now, in the drop-down menu for selecting source, I need to add 'Encarta
Dictionary', 'Encarta Encyclopedia' under 'All Research Sites'.
How do I do that?

Please note that, in the Research pane when I click on 'Research Options...'
it opens a window and 'Encarta Dictionary' is NOT there under the list 'All
Research Sites'.

Yours truly,
Manu

Hi Manu,

What locale settings are you using in the control panel in your PC and what is the country listed as default in the top left of
http://office.microsoft.com ?

I owe you big time. I am a Microsoft office instructor and I had this big
confusion of adding the encarta services so that my students could answer the
question. If I didnt visit this discussion site today, I was in big trouble.

thanks a lot. I agree with your slogan.

This pointed me in the right direction, but I wanted to give more detailed
instruction for others trying to fix this issue.

The issue is with the Location information that is on the Regional Options
tab under the Regional and Language options in the Control Panel

To fix this problem, you need to change your location to the United States
and Click OK

Then go into Microsoft Word and Click on Tools > Research

At the bottom of the Research Task Pane Click on Research Options

Select Add Services

Put in this URL http://office.microsoft.com/Research/query.asmx and click Add

This will update your list of available services and the Encarta Dictionary
should now be an option

Select the dictionary and Click OK.

You should now have the Encarta Dictionary as an option under your Reference
book drop-down in the Research Task Pane.

Thank you. I have added Encarta back to the list.

How do I add Live Search back to the Research Sites in the Research Task
Pane?

Thanks in advance for your assistance.
