She Thru Whom All Data Flows

In Visio 2002 I had a bunch of 3-d boxes where the "face" of the box was
white, but the "depth" part of it was shaded. Now I'm in Visio 2003 and I
can't figure out how to that. Even when I copy my old, shaded boxes to a new
file, they lose their shading. Please help!

Hi STWADF,

Have a look in: File > Shapes > General. There are lots of block-related
stencils there, full of 3D-ish block-ish shapes.

I'm not sure what happened to your old shapes. It is possible that the
old document redefined a bunch of colors. So imagine someone went to
Tools > Colors in the old document, and redefined, say, "off purple" to
be a nice shade of red, then applied it to the sides of your box.

When you bring the shape into the new document, then maybe "off purple"
is still a shade of purple, or maybe doesn't even exist anymore (?). If
it is really color-table problems, I would expect your old shapes to get
whacky colors, not just turn white.

A user named 'vojo' has been submitting some nice 3D/shaded shapes to my
forum. Check this post. There are attachments that you can download...

Chris,
Thanks, I found some other 3-d box shapes with the shading on the sides. But
what I'm puzzled about is, how would one add shading just to the sides,
without adding to the whole box? I thought I knew how to do this once.... If
it's something fairly simple, please clue me in...
