I am currently using Word 2003 at my office and have created several
templates for frequently used documents. I would like to be able to go
directly to the template rather than going File > New > templates on my
computer > "select template" > etc. To accomplish this I was trying to
create a shortcut and then add a button to the toolbar or just to add the
open template button to the toolbar, either would work. Much like using
WordPerfects open using project option.

Create a new toolbar named TEMPLATES
Then create a macro using the document with all your favorite improvements.
When finished, go back you’re your toolbar/customize & start dragging those
macro buttons on your Template toolbar; naming them for quick identification
Create as many macros as you have templates & start clicking away.
