How to avoid task pane appearing when copying

There is a really annoying feature in Word, Excel, Access
and Outlook (2002 and 2003) that I really would like to
turn off:

Whenever I have used Ctrl + C a number of times for
copying items, the task pane appears in the right side of
the application window. Now often I have window and
objects inside it arranged in specific manner, and I
don't like the task pane as itis just in the way and
overlay or compress my other objects in the window
whenever it appears. I use short cuts and menu mnemonics
for tasks and so most of the time have no use for it.

Can you prevent the task pane from appearing, except when
you specifically choose it through the view menu?

Click the button at the footer of the copy pane and on the popup menu that
appears, uncheck all options.
