I've just written a book, with each chapter (& all its citations as endnotes) in a Word file. (One file, one chapter.)
Now I need to merge all the chapters into one file, to send to editors etc.
That bit is easy. What I don't know is how to break down the list of endnotes by chapter - like it is when you look up citations at the end of a book. (Chapter 1's citations might go 1-213; chapter 2's citations 1-159; etc.)
Presently, merging the chapters into one file (good) results in all the endnotes re-numbering from 1 to (say) 4000 (bad).
A normal book has citations broken up by chapter. How to achieve this in my Word file?
