how to bullet or number paragraphs

Hi,

I would like to number paragraphs and not lines but so far have not
been successful.

Any help would be appreciated.

Go to Format-->Bullets and numbering.

The numbered tab will only number paragraphs (1, 2, 3) with no possibility
of subparagraphs (1(a), 1(b), etc.)

Outline numbered allows for it.

Pressing ctrl-shift-S and then using NumPara1may be helpful, tho I've not
experimented with that.

You can create your own numbering style and access it in with this key
combo.

If you have put a carriage return at the end of each line (which you
shouldn't do because wrap takes care of this) then Word will regard each
line as a paragraph and number/bullet each one. I don't see how you have got
line numbering where you should have your requirement of paragraph
numbering.
