How to change cell padding in Word 2010 tables

R

Rae

first of all, let me vent: I HATE WORD 2010.

There is no built in help menu, there is not even an about menu to see
what version you have.

Working with tables is now horrible! I cannot figure out, after an
hour of working with them, how to change the padding in my table
cells.

HELP someone!

Thanks

That setting is still in Table Properties (Table | Options or Cell |
Options, depending on whether you want to change the margins for the entire
table or specific cells). Table Properties should be on the context menu
when you right-click in any cell, or you can click Properties in the Table
group on the contextual Table Tools | Layout tab.

As for how to get version information, see

I just saw this today. Thank you. I finally found it. Its a little
quirky tho. It used to work better with the cell padding setting. It
was easier. You could quickly adjust margins in only one cell if you
wanted with right clicking on it and changing the "padding".
With this new version, even after you go to the options, choosing to
change just one cell, it changes every cell in that row to those
options. Even when you uncheck the box to apply to entire table. There
does not appear to be a way to change only a single cell without
affecting entire row.

I'm not seeing that here. I can change the settings for individual cells
without affecting an entire row. But you do have to be careful not to have
the row selected; just right-click in a specific cell and choose Table
Properties.
