How to Change Default Template for New Side Note?

T

Tim Nicholson

I understand there are templates for new notes and I'm fine with the
"Default" one that has a heading box and automatically inserts the date and
time. However, when using the taskbar icon to "Open New Sidenote", it creates
a blank yellow note. I don't see any options anywhere to set the default
template for new sidenotes. Again, I see the option for setting a default
template for unfiled notes and whatever sections I have in my notebooks, but
don't see a place to change the default specifically for new sidenotes.

Is there at least some kind of registry edit that can be done for this? If
not, I would like to suggest this as a feature enhancement.

Thanks!

I'm not aware of any setting for this. The intention of Side Notes is to
have a place to dump quick and dirty notes from any location. Side Notes
are not intended to be permanent (much like a yellow sticky note isn't
going to be part of a person's formal filing system - you would rewrite the
content of a sticky note on a more permanent place when you have time).
The UI reflects this.

That's an explanation of why things are how they are. Feel free to go to
connect.microsoft.com and formally suggest this as an enhancement for the
next version.
