How to change display to green on black?

Microsoft Word defaults to black text on white, which someone once
described as staring at ants crawling on a lightbulb. There's an
option to change to white on blue, but that's hardly better.

Green on black is best for your eyes...and every major word processing
package except Word offers an option to customize your display. Is
there a way to do this in Word?

Please don't just say "change your Window appearance in the control
panel" because there is not an option to do this...changing I'm
referring to Windows XP. The "application background" for instance,
changes the background behind the document you're editing in an MDI
display, but not the document background itself.

Of course, I still want to print as black-on-white...I'm just trying
to save my eyes.

Thanks.

Well, I know this is not the reply you're looking for, but how about
using the blue background with white text and wear a pair of green
sunglasses. ::don't hit me... I'm old and my mind is going:: :) Look
on the positive side. You can probably write off the cost of the
glasses on your imcome tax next year as a work related expense. :)
