how to change extension of unopened file

R

Rita Beard

I copied an excel file to a CD and it copied it with an
ink extension instead of xls. How do I change it? I
cannot open the file to save it as anything else.

Use windows explorer to copy it to another drive (like C:) then right click
on it and remove the INK and put XLS.

If it doesn't show INK it could be that on that computer INK is already
associated, so under folder view options make sure you have it setup to show
extensions of known filetypes.

Hi Rita

I think it's a LNK file, just a shortcut to the file on the CD. So my guess is that you
didn't actually copy it.
