Hi,

I need to change my MS Project Pro 2003 installation to another PC. How to
do it?

Thanks!

Read your End User License Agreement (EULA) carefully. Most MS products
allow you to install on a main (desktop) PC plus at least one other device
such as a laptop as long as you are the primary user of each machine and do
not run the product on both machines simultaneously. Your EULA has the
details --- I don't work for Microsoft so this post legally means absolutely
nothing.

You will need your original media. If that has been lost, you may contact
Microsoft for a replacement media for a nominal fee if you are a registered
user. If your EULA allows multiple installs, just install it (per terms of
the EULA). If not, uninstall it from PC#1 and then install on PC#2. You can
do an uninstall from the Control Panel, select Add/Remove Programs.

Transfer of the license to another individual is not covered. Transfer of a
license to another person within your company depends on how the license was
originally registered. If it is registered to your company then the EULA
will apply, read its terms. If you work for a big company, Microsoft may
have a different agreement with your company.

In all cases you need the original media (or the legal backup copy).

For additional information, you should contact Microsoft for your country:

In all cases, this post represents my common sense -- do not rely on it for
compliance. Your license is with Microsoft, not me.

It only allows to be installed on one computer. I need to change the
installation to new computer and discard the old one. Many uses will face
the same situation when they buy new computers. MS products should give
users choice to de-activate products, not just activate them.

Thanks!

I do not see where you should have a problem, you can uninstall from one
machine using the control panel. If you are discarding the machine, run an
fdisk from a command prompt and that will take care of wiping out absolutely
everything without a chance for recovery... the ultimate uninstall for all
programs.

Uninstall is the way Microsoft has implemented "Deactivate." If you went
down the road of "Deactivate" then Microsoft would have all sorts of
implementation concerns. Additionally, you would have obsolete software
cluttering your drive. So, the responsibility to de-install rests with the
end user.

The Microsoft EULAs generally allow you to uninstall the software from a one
machine and install it on a different machine as many times as you want.

Here's a link where you can select your own product and view the license
agreement.

From my personal experience (and trust me, I have no special arrangement
with Microsoft), I have installed the same software about 16 times with no
problem. I do, however, have to activate each time and have to do that via
telephone.
