how to change paragraph width on cut and paste

I am scanning a document with a narrow paragraph width and single
spaced. How can I change the width of the paragraphs to a wider look.

for example


Now it the time
for all good men
to come to the
aid of their country

I want:

Now is the time for all good men to come to the aid of their country.

Microsoft Word 2003 on an IBM clone.

I just tried highlighting text and doing autoformat and it seems to

Don:

Simply highlight your paragraph and right-click on it and select
paragraph and make sure that there is no hanging paragraph. Then while
the paragraph is still highlighted change the margins on the ruler.
