How to change querry without wrecking report format?

I have a set of queries setup to provide data to a set of reports. The
report format is designed to print standard mailing labels (Avery 8160, 3
col. by 10 rows), with differing info and formatting based on the query group
per group event. (not a programming event, but an organization of people
involved in an activity)

When I change the selection query for another event, the report format goes
away. Specificlly, I have a qryGreen to select all persons in a green group
for lets say event #1. The query feeds the rptGreen Report that prints
labels (std Avery 8160, 3 cols.). If I change the query so that it selects
the Green group for event #2, the report formatting goes away and prints only
one column. I have to rebuild the report from scratch, using the same query,
to get the 3 cols back. It seems the Report will only work once, and then
the formatting goes away.

What is going on here, and how can I keep the base query so that it feeds
the same report format, without the report format going away. All I want to
change in the base query is one selection parameter, such as event #1, event
#2, event #3 etc. I would not expect the report format to go away by
changing one selection criteria of the query.

Any help will be appreciated.

Have you installed the latest service packs for MS Office? What version are
you using? Have you turned off all Name Autocorrect options?

Changing the record source should not affect the layout or format of the
report.

Doh! Found an update that I did not have. It seems to have fixed it.

Also, after more testing, it wasn not changing the base query that killed
the report format. It turns out that running the report twice killed the
format form 3 col to 1 col. I had only re-run the report after making the
query change.

Thanks for making me put my head back on straight and get the update.

How did you get the avery template in a report? I want to make ID labels for
my video library using Avery 5267.

Thanks in advance for your help.

If your particular label layout is not in the label report wizard, you can
create your label report by designing it yourself. It's usually a matter of
setting the detail section height as well as the report width vs. number of
columns in the layout.
