How to change the look of Outlook 2003??

R

Rick_Dallas

I am running Outlook 2003 and not using an exchange server.

I would like to have one page (Outlook today??) that displays all of the
messages in my inbox, a small but complete version of a monthly calendar, a
list of all my tasks and a list of my appointments. Doesn't seem like too
much to ask, right?

I can't figure out any way to do this although previous versions had such a
page.

Anyone?? Thanks.

Hi Rick,

are you asking where to find Outlook Today? If yes, then take a look at your
folder list (if you can't see it, activate it via the view menu) and click
on the top item in the tree that says Personal Folders. That should display
Outlook Today.
I hope this helps.

See if one of the sample folder home pages at www.digidashlive.com does what
you want.

No, I'm not looking for Outlook today. As the title of my post indicates, I'm looking for a way to change the way Outlook 2003 looks. I'd like to have one page where I can view my inbox messages, small view of my calendar, complete tasks list and list of appts. I realize I'd have to create such a page and am trying to figure out how to do that. Older versions of Outlook had this functionality so I'm hoping 2003 is continuing that tradition. However, so far, I have been unable to figure out how to do that.

Previous versions never had this capability. Outlook Today was the only
option.

They changed the DNS and never told me :( It's updated now - but may be a
few hours before your DNS server can find it.

Rick,

did you mean the dashboard apps that previous Outlook versions had? MS
changed the dashboard idea into something else, but I don't remember what it
is called now. I think Diane's website is exactly what you are looking for.

Diane,

As of today (a couple of days later), I still can't access that site. Do
you know for sure that it's up or maybe it's been changed to a different
name???

I don't know what's up - but it's getting moved to another host as soon as I
can get it set up. I don't know if the cached sites will give you enough
information to know what to do, but it's worth a try -
http://www.google.com/search?as_q=digidashlive&num=100 - click on cached.

Thanks for your quick response. Unfortunately what's cached does not work.
I'd appreciate it if you'd post back here when you have the site up and
working.

Thanks again.

until the digidashlive server changes propagate, use
http://www.cdolive.com/d - check out the links under Active Desktop - those
can be used for folder home pages in outlook.

Hey Diana,

Again, I appreciate your response. However, unfortunately, that site seems
to also have it's problems with dead links, etc.

Is digital dashboard an Outlook addon or whole nother standalone
application? Based on the little info I could glean from the pages, it
sounds like what I'm looking for.

Any additional info would be appreciated.

It's an addin but it's no longer officially available. I don;t know if it
even works with Outlook 2003.

Do you have the Outlook view control installed? if not, the demos won't
work - but otherwise, the links are all good.

Hey Diana,

I've never heard of Outlook view control but everything I find on the web
says that it is included automatically with Outlook 2003 (which is what I'm
using) but the demos don't work. Clicking on them takes me to dead end links.

Are you aware of any other addins that might offer the same type of
functionality? Thanks again for your help.
