How to change the Resource Units % within a task duration?

We are trying to track employee work loads. Each employee works on different
tasks at various percents of thier work load. How can you have one employee
over a 6 month time frame change from 100% to 50% to 25% within one task, and
have these percentages show on the Gnatt Chart?

Is this possible?

You would need to use a work contour on the resource's assignment after you
have actually assigned the resource to the task. One way to do this is to
apply the Task Usage view, locate the name of the resource on that task, and
then manually type the Work values in the timephased grid the way the
resource will actually perform the work on that task (for example, 8
hours/day for 2 months, 4 hours/day for 2 months, and 2 hours/day for 2
months). The other way would be to apply the Task Usage view, double-click
the name of the resource working on that task, and then to select a
pre-formatted Work Contour from the pick list. In your case, I would
suggest you use a Front Loaded work contour. The percentage that shows in
the Gantt Chart is known as the Peak Units value, which reflects the largest
Units assignment across the life of the task, which in this case would be
100%. The Gantt Chart will NOT show the "floating" Units value across the
life of the task, however, so the answer is "no" to your second part of the
question. Hope this helps.
