How to check in a project that can't be checked in?

I haven't a clue how one of our project managers managed the following:
- he created a project
- he saved and publish it
- then he did something we can't figure out any more
- result: project is checked out, but at the admin to check projects in,
this project isn't visible
- I checked it with other projects that are checked out, these are visible,
but for whatever reason this particular project isn't available to check out

Any body has a solution to check this project in again?

Thanks Dale, the 3rd solution is probably what need to be done.

Not "probably" but "definitely" needs to be done. If you cannot check in a
project using the PWA Check In Enterprise Projects option, then a SQL DBA
must do the steps detailed in that section of the FAQ. Hope this helps.
