How to check out the files from Project server to modify the tasks

I am use Project 2003 and Project server 2003. all configured to use with
sharepoint portal.

I am able to upload the MPP flie created in MS Project 2003 to project
server and also assign tasks from Project server to be routed to respective
resources through outlook integration.

However, I am unable to check out the file from project server to my local
machine to make modifications to tasks and add new tasks into the project.
Also I have save and modify baselines which can be done only after checking
out the file from project server into local machine.

I have administrative previlages as well as manager previlages to add modify
and delete projects from project server. So user previlages are not the
issue.

I am not able to find which option on project server allows me to check out
the files from project server. Either I am missing out or not looking in
some place for this option. Please HELP!!! Appreciate your time in
replying back. Thanks very much

Deepak:

Could you clarify that when you say checkout projects, are you trying to
open them in Project Professional? (file, open). This is the standard way to
'check out' projects. It should open a dialogue box with all the projects
saved on the server, and who has them checked out etc.

I am assuming that if you have saved the project to the server, you have
used Project Professional to do so. This being the case, you should have
your version of Project Professional set up with a project server connection
(you can check this in Project using the tools, enterprise options, project
server accounts option), so there should be no reason not to get
connectivity and so open the projects you have saved to the server.

Is there an error message and if so, can you please post it?

Hi Deepak,

I suggest you should review the permissions of the project manager once again.

Still letting you know the steps of how to check in projects.
1. Log in as the administrator in Project server
2. Select the admin tab
3. Select Manage Enterprise Features
4. On the top left side pane you will find the option check- in enterprise
projects
5. It will display a list of project, you can select the required project
and click on Check- in
