How to check which mail has downloaded from POP3 server - sonali gupta

I am using OL2007. I have a PST file which has POP3 account's Emails. I want
to configure an another profile with the same POP3 account settings,
pointing to old PST file. Mails gets duplicated in my new profile because my
mails are already in PST file and it is also available on server(if Leave a
copy of mail on server flag is set).
So is there any way to determine which mail has downloaded from server and
which has not?

With the new .pst file and profile? no.

You can combine the inboxes from each .pst/profile and compare but that is
too tedious for me to even wrap my head around.

Yoy mean I should compare mails from each PST one by one? If mails are
present in one pst then i should delete it from other PST to avoid
duplication?
So on what basis should I compare two pst for mails? Is there anu unique key
available?

Upon recreating your mail profile, you can create a rule that moves all the
mail to a Temp folder you create. After the initial sync, simply disable the
rule again and remove the Temp folder.

If the damage has already been done, you can use a duplicates remover. Some

But if few of mails are not available in my old PSt file, I will loose them.
How to overcome this?

May I ask what you seek to accomplish? I can't think of how having two
profiles using the same PST and configured with the same accounts benefits you
over simply one profile with the original account. If the accounts or the
PSTs were different, then I can see benefits, but not with what you describe.

Well as you can't have more than one profile open on the same machine, why
not just point the new profile to the existing pst file? No need to make a
copy at all.

Those will be at the top of your Temp folder. You can cross reference with
the time if you had already received that message or not. If not, simply
move it and delete the rest.

The question is valid for when you try to overcome mail profile corruptions,
or are recreating your mail profile for other reasons such as having
reformatted your PC and are configuring Outlook again with the original
pst-file.

Currently, Outlook is not able to determine - for POP3 accounts - what
already has been downloaded by another mail profile or on another computer
and simply redownloads the entire mailbox again upon first use.

That's clearer, but that's not what you said originally. You said you wanted
the new profile configured with the same accounts and "pointing to old PST
file", not a _copy_ of the old PST.
