How to Clear Locked XLS?

S

I have a workbook which Excel thinks is "opened by another user" --
that is, in the prior use, it did not close properly, with the result
that I can only open it "read only". (In MyComputer Explore /
Properties "read-only" is not checked, however).

Is there some means to fixed this locked setting somewhere?

If the file's on your own PC, try logging out and logging back in. If that
doesn't do it, reboot.

Or perhaps just kill (in TaskMgr) the running instance of Excel that has it open?
