how to close a task (not a project)

Jesse

I have an MS Project 2003 schedule that I'm publishing to PS 2003. Project
Server is setup Tracking Settings:
- Hours of work done per day or per week: Resources report the hours worked
on each task during each time period.
- Managed Periods

I've assigned tasks to resources....and the tasks have "remaining work". If
I go into the project schedule and set "remaining work" to 0 then it shows "%
work complete" at 100% and shows the task complete on the resource PWA
tasklist.

Is there a way to close a task so a resource (that has submitted time
against the task) cannot continue to submit time against the task?

Hi Jesse,

You can look at the guide "How to close a task" you can find here

http://hperron.net/index.php?option=com_docman&task=cat_view&gid=17&Itemid=30

But note that it's a drastic solution since it requires to modify the
database. But using that solution, you defined a task field to tell if
the task is closed or not. If the task is closed, it never appears in
the timesheet, even if the user selects "All timesheets" or the task is
not completed.

Hope this will help

Thanks Hugues, it is a little drastic but it appears very clean and useful. I
will play with this in our test environment and probably implement into
production.
